Prior to joining ClarkeKann, Bernard:

  • worked in a large law firm advising on a range of property related matters including property developments, 7 years of which were based in Melbourne
  • was in-house counsel for a publicly listed retirement village and aged care developer and operator
  • was legal director for a telecommunications company based in Dubai.

Bernard has acted on a range of matters including the following:

  • property and portfolio acquisitions for a range of Asian corporate and private equity investors
  • large scale property developments:
    • a 234 lot mixed use hotel redevelopment within the City of Sydney area
    • a 28 level residential tower in Parramatta
    • 600 and 400 lot subdivisions in Berwick Springs and Rowville, Victoria for a publicly listed developer
    • the acquisition and sale of lots at Prince Henry at Little Bay
    • large land subdivisions in the Gosford and Tamworth areas
  • investment and corporate real estate:
    • secondments to Coles Myer Limited and Ansett Australia LImited
    • acting for Valad and Toll Holdings on acquisitions on strategic assets
    • purchase of city buildings in Melbourne and Sydney
    • acting for a multi-national hotel group in various developments and operations
  • work for a range of retirement living and aged care clients including not-for-profit clients, portfolio acquisition work and drafting standard resident documentation
